Born and bred on Auckland’s North Shore, Michael attended Auckland University graduating with a Bachelor of Property, receiving the Paramount Scholarship in Property Management and Property and Land Economy Institute First Prize in his final year of study.
Joining Sheldons in late 1996 after initially working for Valuation New Zealand, he was involved in a wide range of valuation assignments, before focusing on commercial and industrial work. Michael became a Registered Valuer in 2000 and shifted his focus to industrial properties, although remained involved with commercial assets such as office and retail units.
His focus became solely industrial in 2001 when he joined Bristow Barbour & Walker (now Darrochs) and concentrated on Auckland’s Western suburbs, with assignments also undertaken throughout Auckland and on the North Shore. Michael developed strong relationships with local agents and key players in this sector enabling him to provide accurate, timely and cost effective advice for purchase, sale and rental reviews.
In 2006 he moved to the corporate sector, joining Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) where valuations were varied both geographically and by type. During his time with JLL Michael undertook assignments through the New Zealand for Institutional and Corporate owners. He also undertook consultancy based assignments and provided tailored advice for clients in relation to their existing properties, investment goals and potential acquisition of new assets outside of solely providing an assessment of value.
Returning to Sheldons in 2011, Michael now focuses on his true passion, industrial and specialist properties and brings a wealth of experience gained during his “sabbatical” with him from working elsewhere in both the local suburban and national corporate markets. He provides excellent client service and believes effective communication is key to success.
Michael lives on the North Shore with his wife and two young boys and enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, cooking and sports. He particularly enjoys running and cycling having completed numerous marathons and two Ironman Triathlons.
